From Paolo Sorrentino’s “The Young Pope” to Woody Allen’s “Crisis in Six Scenes”, more and more established film makers are looking towards TV formats to tell their stories. Even the Cannes Film Festival, the citadel of cinema, included episodes of Jane Campion’s “Top of the Lake” and David Lynch’s rebooted “Twin Peaks” in its line-up this year. Meanwhile, audiences’ insatiable appetite for box-sets continues to be fuelled by the ongoing revolution in streaming technology and viewing possibilities.

The shift is palpable; but with everyone now eager to be part of the “Golden Age in Television” – around 500 new scripted series are scheduled for 2017 alone – and the traditional routes of commissioning less assured, the pressure is on to find more imaginative ways of funding and creating original content. In a twist of irony, it’s the maverick spirit of the independent film producer that’s increasingly in demand for the TV boom.

With decades of experience embedded between both ‘Film’ and ‘TV’ markets, Starline Entertainment’s Carey Fitzgerald hosts a panel of experts to explore the ins and outs of funding, producing, selling and delivering fresh content in today’s brave new world.
